2016 was all about embracing my skin imperfections and the signs of ageing. So, I have been seeking to restore the natural glow of my 20s, while letting my natural skin show through makeup. Keep reading as I am revealing some beauty gems.
Estee Lauder Double Wear Light Stay in Place Makeup
A 2016 beauty launch that was definitely my makeup find of the year! It is a lightweight foundation providing a natural, skin-like finish. It offers light to medium coverage, but it is easily built up to take me from day to night. It is a long lasting, slightly dewy base that lets my skin show through!
A little late to the party, in 2016 I softened to the idea of buying hardly the cheapest cosmetic sponge! This egg shaped, bright pink, soft tool is darn good for natural and uniform foundation application. I love to use it slightly damp as it amps up glow.
Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick Compact - Bronze
I am a big fan of anything that adds a touch of beautiful radiance to my face, without looking like a disco ball. Although I was quite skeptical at the beginning to use a shimmer brick for a daytime appropriate look, I am obsessed with it. This stuff instantly brings my skin to life with the right amount of shimmer. I look healthy and luminous!
KIKO Desert Dunes Trio Baked Blush - 02 Gypsy Pink
I have to be honest here and admit that I was drawn by its rose gold packaging! It’s a gorgeous and generously sized baked blush with smooth, silky consistency combining a trio of beautiful color shades giving a flawless flush.
Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream – Stockholm
Oh so creamy! Finally, a matte lipstick with a creamy consistency that applies beautifully and doesn’t feel drying. In 2016, I have been sporting the barely there nude matte trend and Stockholm has been my low maintenance, effortless color of choice.
MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot - Groundwork
I love, love cream eye shadows. This is my go to everyday cream eye shadow that never fails to make my eyes pop. Used as a base gives a boost to my powder shades. It glides on beautifully and stays put. So easy to sweep on!
Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette
OMG! Adding this palette to my make up regimen always gives me a chocolate thrill. It offers a range of deliciously warm-toned mattes and shimmers beautifully smooth in texture. This quickly became my go-to palette of 2016 because of its wearable variety of everyday shades that take me from day to night.
My Burberry Black Parfum
Although I usually stick to my signature perfume, this was a new release in the fragrance world that I was eagerly awaiting. On first spritz is quite fruity and floral, but as it settles on my skin becomes deeper and darker. The heavenly notes of jasmine, peach nectar with a touch of rose and rich amber patchouli come together in this clean , fresh, but yet incredibly masculine aroma lingering on my skin for hours!
